Cookie policy
Cookies are small text files that can be stored on your computer when you visit websites.
This document informs Users about the technologies that allow verant.be to achieve the goals described below. These technologies allow the Owner to access information and store information over time (e.g. by using a Cookie) or use tools (e.g. running a script) on a User's device while interacting with verant.be.
To keep things simple, all of these technologies are referred to as “Trackers” in this document - unless there is a reason to make a distinction.
For example, while Cookies can be used on both web and mobile browsers, talking about Cookies in the context of mobile apps would be inaccurate because cookies are browser-based trackers. Therefore, in this document, the term Cookies is only used to refer to that specific type of Tracker.
Certain purposes for which Trackers are installed also require the User's consent. After giving consent, it can always be freely withdrawn in accordance with the instructions in this document.
verant.be uses Trackers that are managed directly by the Owner (so-called own Trackers) and Trackers to provide services offered by third parties (so-called third-party Trackers). Unless otherwise specified in this document, third-party vendors have access to Trackers they manage.
The validity periods and expiration periods of own Cookies and other similar Trackers may vary depending on the lifespan set by the Owner or the relevant provider. Some of them expire after the end of the User's browsing session.
In addition to what is specified in the descriptions in each of the categories below, Users can find more precise and updated information about the lifetime specification, as well as any other relevant information - such as the presence of other Trackers - in the relevant third-party providers' linked privacy policies or by contacting the Owner.
Activities that are strictly necessary for the functioning of verant.be and the provision of the Service
verant.be uses so-called technical Cookies and other similar Trackers to carry out activities that are strictly necessary for the operation or delivery of the Service.
Third-party trackers
- Platform services and hosting
The purpose of these services is to host and execute the most important parts of verant.be, and thus ensure the delivery of verant.be from a common platform. These platforms provide the Owner with a wide range of tools — such as analytics, user registration, commenting, database management, e-commerce, payment processing — that involve the collection and processing of Personal Data.
Some of these services operate via servers that are geographically distributed, so it can be difficult to determine where the personal data is actually stored.
Other activities that use Trackers
Improving the experience
verant.be uses Trackers to provide a personalized user experience by expanding preferred management options and allowing interaction with external networks and platforms.
- Displaying content from external platforms
These types of services allow you to view and interact with content hosted on external platforms directly on the verant.be pages.
If this type of service is installed, it can still collect website traffic data for the pages where the service is installed, even if Users do not use it.
Measurement
verant.be uses Trackers to measure visits and analyze User behavior with the aim of improving the Service.
- Analyses
The services described in this section allow the Owner to track and analyze Internet traffic and can be used to map user behavior.
Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited)
Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”). Google uses the collected Data to track and investigate the use of verant.be, to compile reports on its activities and share them with other Google services.
Google can use the collected Data to frame and personalize the ads from its own ad network.

- Anonymized analysis services
With the services in this section, the Owner can perform and manage analyses in an anonymized form by using third-party Trackers.
Google Analytics with anonymized IP (Google Ireland Limited)
Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Ireland Limited (“Google”). Google uses the collected Data to track and investigate the use of verant.be, to compile reports on its activities and share them with other Google services.
Google can use the collected Data to frame and personalize the ads from its own ad network.
This Google Analytics integration anonymizes your IP address. This works by shortening the IP addresses of Users in the member states of the European Union or in other states within the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server and abbreviated in the US.

Manage preferences and give or withdraw consent
There are various ways to manage and, if applicable, give or withdraw consent to Trackers preferences:
Users can manage Trackers preferences directly from their own device settings, for example by preventing Trackers from being saved.
In addition, where the use of Trackers is based on consent, Users can give or withdraw this consent by setting their preferences in the cookie notice or by updating those preferences via the relevant consent preferences widget, if available.
It is also possible to delete previously stored Trackers, including Trackers that are used to store the User's initial consent, via targeted browser or device functions.
Other trackers in the browser's local memory can be deleted by deleting browsing history.
With respect to third-party Trackers, Users can manage their preferences and withdraw consent via the related opt-out link (if any), by using the means specified in the third party's privacy policy, or by contacting the third party.
Find tracker settings
For example, users can find information about how to manage cookies in the most common browsers at the following addresses:
Users can also manage certain categories of Trackers used in mobile apps by opting out (“opt-out”) via the relevant device settings, such as device advertising settings for mobile devices or tracking settings in general (Users can access device settings and search for that setting).
Consequences of refusing consent
Users are free to decide whether or not to give consent. However, please note that Trackers verant.be help provide Users with a better experience and advanced features (in line with the purposes set out in this document). Therefore, if the User does not consent, the Owner may not be able to offer related features.

Since verant.be's use of third-party Trackers cannot be fully controlled by the Owner, the specific references to third-party Trackers are only indicative. For full information about this, we ask Users to review the privacy policies of the relevant external services listed in this document.
Given the objective complexity surrounding tracking technologies, we recommend that Users contact the Owner if they wish to receive further information about verant.be's use of these technologies.
